This is a terrific sounding Deagan model 260 Artist Special xylophone. The model 260 is the 3-octave, C-C version of this iconic xylophone. All Artist Special xylophone model have wide bars that produce the dark rich tone that is preferred by many professional orchestral players. This three octave model is no exception and given its shorter range has a smaller stage footprint that can be very useful in a pit or on a crowded stage. This instrument has "NAGAED" coded bars which indicates it is select quality Honduran rosewood. This is an earlier model frame with fully suspended bars that do not come into contact with the rails. The all original frame is in excellent condition. The legs are on the shorter side but these can easily be replaced of extended if desired. Three of the bars have been replaced with genuine Deagan Artist Special bars that match the rest of the instrument in tone but have a slightly lighter color. Some of the bars in the center of the range have slight wear on the edges which can easily be repaired if desired. Taken as a whole, this is a great, professional quality instrument at a very modest price that will make a useful addition to any percussion section.
