Hinger Private Collection Now Available
A rare opportunity to own memorabilia and personal instruments collected and played by Fred D Hinger, famous percussionist/timpanist. This collection also includes unique instruments and protoypes developed for the Hinger Touch Tone Corporation.
This is a fully reconditioned Ludwig & Ludwig Standard Professional model snare drum with a 5”x14” shell and Stipelgold finish. This is a striking example of the rare Stipelgold finished snare drum offered by Ludwig & Ludwig in the 1926 catalog. This finish was fragile and often flaked off the shell over time. We have perfected with the method to repair and/or replace this finish to restore the original finish on these drums. Most of the hardware, 10 tube lugs, rims, tension rods, throw-off, and butt plate are original to the drum. The throw-off lever was repaired by a previous owner and works smoothly. The tension rod washers are not original. The solid mahogany shell has no extra holes and is in round so new heads fit easily. All of the hardware was cleaned and lightly re-lacquered to restore and protect its gold color. This drum, with its rare finish, will make a great addition to anyone’s collection. We also have a matching Stipelgold bass drum available that could be combined with this snare drum to create a nice example of the 1926 Ludwig & Ludwig Stipelgold outfit.
